Classes in Ancient Mists are arranged in two Tiers..the classes available in each are as follows:
Tier One |
Tier Two |
Mage |
Bard |
Players start their life on the first tier as one of eight different classes. In the first tier (commonly referred to as simply T1), upon reaching level 190 or above, a player can 'remort' to another class on that tier, thereby multi-classing. They retain some percentage of what they have learned with their previous classes, but those skills and spells will only be available when they have reached the required level.
Classes in Tier 2 (T2) have 'pre-requisites'. This means that you can only become that class if you have completed certain the requirements from the previous tier. Therefore, if you want to become every class in tier two, you will need all the tier one classes first. If you do not plan to have every class on the second tier, then you only need to complete the first tier classes needed for you chosen path.
Your path is yours to choose. Choose your path wisely or you could find yourself stuck on Tier 2 with nowhere to go. If this happens, then you would have to Descend again to complete more classes, which would lose your advanced training.
To get to the next tier up, you must ASCEND. When you Ascend, you are choosing a completely new path, and therefore you will LOSE all the skills and spells that you currently have and relearn them as you progress through the classes of your new tier. You will keep a percentage of your hit points and mana as per normal remort procedures, as well as being able to take through your lockered eq, gold, Mist Points (max 1500), pracs & trains.
Spells and skills will be relearned at a lower level, and new skills and spells will become available to you. You will also find combat easier, and be able to equip the higher Tiered Eq. New Mist Eq will also be available. Your TnL will drop back down to 1500 as well, to make levelling easier again.
Advancing in Tier 2 requires that you have certain classes already completed:
